niki and i thought lets build a swimming pool, how hard can it be ?
Well we got the equipment and got the planning passed at our holiday let in France.. by drawing a picture of how it will look and where it will be situated and submitting it to the local Marie, the weird bit is, if you don't here anything its passed to go ahead. We never heard so had to go and find out first to be certain, as digger was rearing to go. . started this in April 2009. We looked at many kit options on the net and fibre glass options, but worked out to be expensive, so I thought of how they would of built pools years ago before special water proof cements, and poured concrete, so we set off and dug a big hole, built four walls to our own spec, 4m x 8m two coats of rendering, and used a pool paint.. which after a couple of years the floor started to look rough, as guests had worn it away.. so we drained the pool down prepared the floor and tiled it as well as the top step, we were going to have a roman stair type steps which is a curve, but on investigation the pool edging slabs for the roman step came in two diameter curves and these were from the UK, and didn't know if they would matched the ones we got in France and also the curve set was expensive and this was a budget pool job. so making a square stair entry was the way to go, easier to construct and use the same edging stones all round. All the pool plant equipment we ordered on line from the UK pictured on pallet. .There is also a Robbo constructed solar pool heater using four 100mm x 4m drainage pipes painted black to attract the heat which the pool water passes through on the way back to the pool.
